I Spent $130 on Beauty in Morocco—This Is How I Rate Each Product

1. Prickly Pear Cactus Oil $50—10/10

This has been my favorite—hands-down. Over the years, my skin has responded best to oils like vitamin C and vitamin E, which this has a higher concentration of than other oils, so it’s great for hydration. Personally, it’s been great for reducing redness and evening my skin tone. They call it natural botox, and I understand why. It’s a bit expensive, but if you don’t get anything else, I recommend this.

2. Hair Treatment $23—10/10

I’ve always had very thick hair, but if you can imagine, this spray has increased the density even more the last couple months. The recommended use is twice a day, but I only use it twice a week and have still seen great results. I have PMOS, which causes thin edges, so I’ve also been concentrating it in that area specifically and it definitely works.

3. Argan Oil Soap $6—10/10

I have contact dermatitis, which is a specific kind of eczema, and it shows up in patches on my hands from time to time, so I try to prioritize gentle hand soaps that don’t trigger flares. This soap is hydrating and keeps my hands extremely soft.

4. Eczema Cream $15—9/10

As I mentioned, I have eczema, and it shows up in places like my ears and hands. This product is more like a balm that I would definitely recommend for soothing flares, and you can spot treat with it. A little goes a long way. There are hundreds of pharmacies in Morocco, and if you go into any of them, they probably have this in stock.

5. Scent Cubes $2—8/10

I’m not going to hold you, these smell amazing and the scent is longlasting. They are handmade solid perfumes made from wax and essential oils, which you can rub on your neck and wrists or really anywhere. I personally loved the amber scent, which is what I got, but they also have scents like musk, oudh, sandalwood, jasmine, patchouli, eucalyptus and more.

6. Aker Fassi (Lip + Cheek Stain) Free!—8/10

I could not have told you what it was just looking at it, but it’s a lip and cheek stain made from dried poppy petals and pomegranate bark powder. All you have to do is wet it, which makes it a little messy, so don’t wear anything you don’t want stained while applying it. It takes a little figuring to use it at first, but overall this is a very cool product and they gave me one for free.

7. Orange Blossom Essential Oil (Neroli) $15—7/10

A tiny amount of this goes a VERY long way. I didn’t love it in my mint tea personally, but I could absolutely see this being a nice mix with shea butter or other body care products. I think out of everything, I probably use this the least, but I’d love to find ways to incorporate it more.

8. Scented Argan Oil $15—7/10

I loved the vanilla scent, but the added fragrance made it feel a little heavier and a little sticky on my skin, which I didn’t like. I did also buy pure argan oil, which I gave away, but next time, I would skip the scented version and buy pure argan oil for myself instead.
