Time for Extraordinary Pizza: Mister O1 Makes the Best Pizza in Miami and Atlanta

In 2024, I took a trip to Miami, and someone told me that when in doubt about food, you can always find good pizza. After a long and hot day at the beach, I wasn’t interested in getting dressed and going back out again, so I did a quick search on DoorDash. I wasn’t necessarily expecting anything special, but baby, when that Mister O1 pizza arrived? The game changed. I took one bite and I immediately knew this wasn’t just a regular pizza joint.

I didn’t even realize Mister O1 was that girl—a Miami staple known for turning pizza into art.

Fast forward to a 2025 trip to Atlanta. I was catching up with family when I found out Mister O1 had opened a location there about 20 minutes away.

I ordered the Meat Lovers 2.0 again with spicy salami, bacon, and pepperoni balanced with mozzarella and a drizzle of hot honey. I loved that it was reminiscent of my childhood, as my family always ate Meat Lovers whenever we ordered pizza. My brother tried the Star Laina, one of their signature pizzas folded into a star shape, stuffed with ricotta in the points and topped with arugula, prosciutto, and shaved parmesan. It’s such an artistic and dramatic way to do pizza, which is obviously why they chose it as the signature shape.

What Makes Mister O1 So Extraordinary?

Mister O1 isn’t just another pizza place. It’s the product of a dream that started with an Italian visa and a whole lot of passion. The founder, Chef Renato Viola, came to Miami under an O-1 visa, which is reserved for “individuals with extraordinary ability.” That’s where the name Mister O1 comes from.

He brought his craft from Southern Italy, and it shows. The dough is fermented for at least 72 hours, which gives it that perfect balance of light and chewy. The toppings are next-level, including ingredients like truffle oil, burrata, spicy honey, and imported Italian meats. Then the presentation markets itself. Star-shaped pizzas? Certainly unique.

Where to Find It

Mister O1 now has multiple locations in Miami, including the original tucked away in an office building in Brickell. And if you’re in Atlanta, there’s a spot in Buckhead that’s worth the trip. They’re slowly expanding, and I’m just hoping my hometown Richmond makes the list someday.
