Wearing Sézane in Martha’s Vineyard
My blogging career began with fashion and makeup back in 2014. I’ve always had my own style, and at the time, I wanted to show that to the world more than anything. Interestingly, I’ve not shared a style post in many years since my digital home evolved to be travel based. Style, though, is an incredibly important part of travel to me, and I would even say travel is when I push my boundaries most when it comes to choosing clothes.
I knew I would be traveling to Martha’s Vineyard in the off season, and I also knew that it can get rather chilly near the water. For the fall and winter season, my first purchase is always one critical piece of outerwear that I ideally can shape the rest of my wardrobe around. When I saw Sézane’s Brown houndstooth Oscar jacket, I knew immediately this was the piece.
Houndstooth is a quintessential fall pattern, and in these colors, it doesn’t get anymore perfect. This particular jacket is long-sleeved merino wool and kid mohair, which makes it incredibly warm, and the large front pockets are nice for storing things like a phone in addition to warming your hands.
For many of us, Cowboy Carter was a moment to lean into western fashion, and i’ve found since then that it’s a style I could continue leaning into because it can be practical. The right pair of boots can be comfortable to walk around in, a cowboy hat is both a statement piece and also a source of warmth, and to complete the look, all I needed was the perfect pair of jeans—my choice being the Free People barrel jeans I’ve not stopped wearing since I bought them.
Martha’s Vineyard is a coastal destination where it’s perfectly normal and probably preferred to dress down, so most people are wearing a t-shirt or sweatshirt with jeans and sneakers. But for me, there’s always room to take it a step further, especially in Sézane.
